8 Fascinating Things Your Body Says About Your Personality & Health

1. The location of your belly button can help you decide what sport you should play

New findings show that one of the most important factors in determining which sports one will be good at is correlated with location of one’s bellybutton. The idea is, where your bellybutton is, is where your center of gravity is—and this may determine your inherent abilities to run and swim. Those with higher a navel position tend to be better runners (because they usually have longer legs proportionate to their height), while people with a lower navel position are good swimmers (due to a longer torso).

2. People with dark eyes may be more sensitive to alcohol than people with blue or green eyes.

If your eyes are black or brown, you may be able to drink less than your blue- or green-eyed friends, according to an early 2000 study. Light eyed women self-reported higher alcohol use and more frequent alcohol. They speculated that dark-eyed people may be more sensitive to alcohol and other drugs in general, which may lead them to drink less to achieve the desired effects.

3. Redheads need more anesthesia during surgery.

People with red hair need larger doses of anesthesia and maybe more resistant to local pain blockers like Novocaine, researchers believe; furthermore redheads are more sensitive to pain because of a mutation in the gene that is responsible for causing red-colored hair— the melanocortin 1 receptor (MC1R) protein.
